{"id":8403,"date":"2017-10-11T05:54:28","date_gmt":"2017-10-11T09:54:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/mr-mercedes-set-second-season\/"},"modified":"2017-10-11T13:58:46","modified_gmt":"2017-10-11T17:58:46","slug":"mr-mercedes-set-for-second-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/mr-mercedes-set-for-second-season\/","title":{"rendered":"Mr. Mercedes Set for Second Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the lead-up to tonight&#8217;s season finale of <em>Mr. Mercedes<\/em>, AT&amp;T Audience Network has ordered a second season of the drama.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The second season will be based on\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Stephen<i>\u00a0<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\">King\u2019s best-selling Bill Hodges trilogy, which includes <em>Mr. Mercedes<\/em>, <em>Finders Keepers<\/em>\u00a0and <em>End of Watch<\/em>. David E. Kelley (<i>Big Little Lies<\/i>, <i>Ally McBeal)<\/i>\u00a0will return to write the script<i> <\/i>and Jack Bender (<i>Lost<\/i>, <i>Under the Dome<\/i>) returns as director. King, Kelley and Bender will also continue to serve as executive producers, along with Dennis Lehane, who will also write.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Production for the ten one-hour episodes is scheduled to begin in February 2018 in Charleston, South Carolina, with the premiere launching later in the year. The series is produced by Sonar Entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited and thrilled,\u201d said Kelley. \u201cStephen King, Dennis Lehane, Jack Bender, Brendan Gleeson\u2026this is a special team indeed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Mr. Mercedes<\/em> is Stephen King writing about the monsters inside his characters rather than outside,\u201d said Bender. \u201cWe were extremely fortunate to attract an amazing cast, led by Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway, to bring these flawed, complex, colorful characters to life. With Sonar and AT&amp;T, along with great scripts and our talented team in Charleston, I am thrilled to keep telling this story.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled that the first installment of <em>Mr. Mercedes<\/em>\u00a0resonated with such a wide audience,\u201d said Christopher Long, head of AT&amp;T Audience Network. \u201cDavid E. Kelley, Jack Bender, Dennis Lehane and Sonar did a masterful job crafting a series that honored the original work by Stephen King.
