The eight-part series, set in the international world of organized crime, was created by Hossein Amini and James Watkins.<\/p>\n<p>The series was commissioned by the BBC and is co-production between BBC, AMC Networks and Cuba Pictures. <em>McMafia<\/em> will premiere on BBC One in the U.K. in 2018. The cast includes James Norton, David Strathairn and Juliet Rylance.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Dempsey, the president of global markets at BBC Worldwide, said: \u201cWith a stellar cast, brilliant writing and huge international appeal <em>McMafia<\/em> has all the makings of a modern-day classic and we\u2019re delighted that Amazon will be taking the series to its audiences around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>McMafia<\/em> is a compelling international story that our Prime Video customers around the world are going to love,\u201d said Brad Beale, the VP of Prime Video TV content acquisition. \u201cWith a fascinating premise, talented writers and distinguished cast, <em>McMafia<\/em> will be a great addition to our stable of high-quality hit shows that are available exclusively to Prime members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amini and Watkins added: \u201c<em>McMafia<\/em> is the story of our contemporary globalized world and the criminal underworlds that compete and thrive just beneath its surface. It is a truly international show, spanning dozens of countries, and we are thrilled that through our collaboration with Amazon we can reach the global audience it was always meant for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nick Marston, CEO of Cuba Pictures, remarked: \u201cWe are thrilled to be working with Amazon.
