Portillo\u2019s untitled book, which is being written with journalist and <em>New York Times<\/em> best-selling author Maria Garcia, will serve as the basis for <em>El Clan<\/em>. Endemol Shine Latino and DNF Pictures are currently in discussions with potential networks and platforms for the series.<\/p>\n<p>The story follows Portillo, fellow Mexican music star Gloria Trevi and controversial manager Sergio Andrade. Andrade gave Portillo and Trevi their respective starts in the music industry, casting them in the all-female teenage group Boquitas Pintadas. Trevi and Portillo both went on to find success as solo artists, but their careers were derailed after both, alongside Andrade, were accused of corrupting minors, kidnapping and other offenses by Mexican authorities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter so many years of waiting, finally the moment has come, just the right time for me to finally be able to tell my true story,\u201d said Portillo. \u201cThis project is not about vindicating myself, nor does it seek justice for anyone. Rather, it\u2019s about healing wounds and closing open chapters so that others can benefit from my story. It\u2019s been said that silence amounts to consent and it\u2019s time for the truth to come out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are very excited to be a part of this project that finally gives a voice to Raquenel,\u201d added Mauricio Piccone, the executive VP of Endemol Shine Latino. \u201cThis series will be an opportunity to finally tell the true story behind all the rumors and speculation that has been in the public eye for decades.
