The U.K. indie Red Planet Pictures has opened a writers\u2019 room initiative, designed to launch Britain\u2019s next generation of showrunners.<\/p>\n
Red Planet has invited four rising screenwriters to join the program, to be paired with an established showrunner to develop an original idea from concept to production. In the first program, the writers will be developing a new eight-part contemporary crime thriller. Set in London, the series will be developed from start to finish by the writers\u2019 room, which in this instance will be led by Red Planet CEO Tony Jordan.<\/p>\n
The writers selected for the inaugural Red Planet Writers\u2019 Room are Maya Sondhi (Mount Pleasant<\/em>, EastEnders<\/em>, The Kumars<\/em>), Laura Poliakoff (Holby City<\/em>, EastEnders<\/em>, Casualty<\/em>), Johnny O\u2019Neill (The Accident<\/em>, Community Service<\/em>, EastEnders<\/em>) and Nathaniel Price (The Job<\/em>, Baller<\/em>, The Break II<\/em>).<\/p>\n Jordan said: “We\u2019re thrilled to announce this new initiative, building on the work we\u2019ve done with new writers for more than ten years.
