Grant will star as disgraced MP Jeremy Thorpe.<\/p>\n<p><em>A Very English Scandal<\/em> will mark the first production from the Sony-backed Blueprint Television, which launched last June.<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Treadwell-Collins, the head of Blueprint, said: \u201cHugh is one our most iconic British actors\u2014sharp, witty, deeply human and nuanced\u2014and to have him play one of the most controversial figures of British politics is utterly thrilling. With Russell T Davies writing and Stephen Frears directing, <em>A Very English Scandal<\/em> unites the highest level of talent to bring this extraordinary true story to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Piers Wenger, the controller of BBC Drama, commented: \u201cHugh Grant is an extraordinary actor and a worldwide star.
