Bunim\/Murray Productions (BMP) is developing a limited scripted series based on\u00a0the life of Edson Arantes do Nascimento, the retired soccer legend known as Pel\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Pel\u00e9 began playing soccer for Brazil’s national football team at the age of 16 and went on to win three FIFA World Cups. The show will explore his life in New York during the mid-1970s, while he was playing for the Cosmos. It is being developed with Paul Kemsley (PK), Pel\u00e9’s manager. Pel\u00e9, Kemsley, BMP CEO Gil Goldschein and Jeff Jenkins, BMP’s co-president of entertainment and development, will all serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n

Goldschein remarked: \u201cGrowing up playing soccer competitively and now coaching my kids\u2019 teams, I have always admired Pel\u00e9 and aspired to share his story and approached PK about doing this series. As soccer continues to gain legions of fans around the world, now is the right time to delve into and dramatize his story. Pel\u00e9\u2019s talent, humility and charisma make him an outstanding role model, and we anticipate that this series will have mass global appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n
