LOS ANGELES\/TORONTO: Amybeth McNulty has been cast in the lead role of Anne Shirley in the new Netflix and CBC series Anne<\/em>, based on Lucy Maud Montgomery\u2019s classic novel Anne of Green Gables<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The 8×1-hour series began production on Prince Edward Island in September and has now moved to Ontario, Canada. McNulty, a 14-year-old Irish Canadian actress, will star as the precocious and imaginative central character of the coming-of-age story, set in the late 1890s.<\/p>\n

The new Anne<\/em> series is being produced by Northwood Entertainment, Netflix and CBC.<\/p>\n
