LONDON: Sean Bean (Game of Thrones<\/em>, Accused<\/em>) has been lined up to lead the cast of Broken<\/em>, a tentatively titled new BBC One drama series from Accused<\/em> creator Jimmy McGovern.<\/p>\n

Broken<\/em> centers on Father Michael Kerrigan, a Catholic priest presiding over a Northern urban parish. The six-part prime-time show is being made for BBC One by LA Productions. Colin McKeown and Donna Molloy are producing for LA Productions, while Lucy Richer will executive produce for the BBC.<\/p>\n

Bean, who is also executive producing, commented: \u201cI was very excited at the prospect of working with Jimmy McGovern again. His scripts are raw and real and he creates fantastic and interesting characters that resonate with society today. I\u2019m also thrilled to have Ashley Pearce on board as director.\u201d<\/p>\n

McGovern said: \u201cIt’s fantastic, because I’ve been trying to work with Sean again ever since he played Tracie Tremarco in Accused<\/em>, which was astonishing stuff, so I’m over the moon he’s jumped on board with Broken<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

McKeown noted: \u201cIt’s fantastic to do a state-of-the-nation piece in Liverpool.\u201d<\/p>\n
