{"id":6266,"date":"2016-06-21T11:13:11","date_gmt":"2016-06-21T15:13:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/penny-dreadful-ends-showtime-run\/"},"modified":"2016-06-21T13:45:07","modified_gmt":"2016-06-21T17:45:07","slug":"penny-dreadful-ends-showtime-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/penny-dreadful-ends-showtime-run\/","title":{"rendered":"Penny Dreadful Ends with Season Three Finale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>LOS ANGELES: The third season finale of <em>Penny Dreadful<\/em> marked the conclusion of the BAFTA-winning\u00a0Showtime and Sky co-production.<\/p>\n<p>The show&#8217;s creator, writer and executive producer, John Logan, and Showtime Networks&#8217;s president and CEO, David Nevins, announced that the show would not return for a season four following the third season finale. &#8220;I created <em>Penny Dreadful<\/em> to tell the story of a woman grappling with her faith, and with the demons inside her,&#8221; Logan said. &#8220;For me the character of Vanessa Ives is the heart of this series. From the beginning, I imagined her story would unfold over a three-season arc, ending with Vanessa finally\u2013and triumphantly\u2014finding peace as she returns to her faith.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Logan continued, &#8220;To have had fans that have embraced us so passionately has been one of the most gratifying experiences of my career. This has been a very personal project for me and I will be forever grateful to have worked with the incredible cast led by Eva [Green], Josh [Hartnett] and Tim [Dalton], our amazing Irish crew, and with our wonderful partners at Showtime and Sky.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;John Logan deftly created a truly beautiful, brilliantly-written, epic drama series that has drawn a passionate fanbase to our network,&#8221; said Nevins. &#8220;After three fulfilling seasons, John has told the story he set out to tell and brought the series to a close in an incredibly poetic way. It has been an honor to work with him and this amazingly talented cast, and we&#8217;re thrilled that we can continue to work with John as he transitions to write and produce his next project for us, <em>Just Kids<\/em>, alongside Patti Smith.
