NEW YORK: Spike TV has greenlit The Mist<\/em>, based on Stephen King\u2019s classic horror novella, as a 10×1-hour series.<\/p>\n

Spike ordered a production pilot for The Mist<\/em> in February, but upon hearing the series pitch and reading the script, the network has decided to go straight to series. The show will head into production this summer for a 2017 premiere. The Mist <\/em>tells a harrowing story about a seemingly innocuous mist that seeps into a small town and creates immense havoc.<\/p>\n

Christian Torpe serves as the executive producer. Torpe created the successful Danish show Rita<\/em> and has developed\u00a0programming for both Showtime and AMC.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom the brilliant mind of Stephen King and the incredible production team at TWC-Dimension TV, The Mist<\/em> will take audiences on a thrilling ride through a small town grappling with a mysterious and shocking horror,\u201d said Sharon Levy, executive VP of original series at Spike TV. \u201cChristian [Torpe] and the entire team at TWC-Dimension TV have crafted the framework for a compelling and distinctive series that will resonate with Spike\u2019s expanding audience.\u201d<\/p>\n
