STUDIO CITY: Bryan Fuller is returning to the Star Trek<\/em> franchise as co-creator and executive producer of the upcoming CBS All Access series.<\/p>\n

Fuller had launched his career writing for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine<\/em> and Star Trek: Voyager<\/em>, and now will serve as showrunner for the brand-new Star Trek<\/em> series. Fuller recently served as executive producer and writer on NBC\u2019s Hannibal<\/em>, based on the characters from the book Red Dragon<\/em> by Thomas Harris. He created the critically acclaimed series Dead Like Me<\/em> and Wonderfalls<\/em>, and served as writer and co-executive producer on the first season of Heroes<\/em>, before leaving to create Pushing Daisies<\/em>. Fuller is currently executive producing, along with partner Michael Green, an adaptation of Neil Gaiman\u2019s novel American Gods<\/em> for Starz.<\/p>\n

The new Star Trek<\/em> series, produced by CBS Television Studios, will launch with a special preview broadcast on CBS in early 2017. The premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the U.S. on CBS All Access, the network\u2019s digital SVOD and live streaming service.<\/p>\n

The new Star Trek<\/em> marks the first original series developed for CBS All Access. CBS Studios International will distribute the next chapter of the franchise globally.<\/p>\n

Fuller commented: \u201cMy very first experience of Star Trek<\/em> is my oldest brother turning off all the lights in the house and flying his model of a D7 Class Klingon Battle Cruiser through the darkened halls. Before seeing a frame of the television series, the Star Trek<\/em> universe lit my imagination on fire. It is without exaggeration a dream come true to be crafting a brand-new iteration of Star Trek<\/em> with fellow franchise alum Alex Kurtzman and boldly going where no Star Trek<\/em> series has gone before.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBringing Star Trek<\/em> back to television means returning it to its roots, and for years those roots flourished under Bryan\u2019s devoted care,\u201d said executive producer Alex Kurtzman. \u201cHis encyclopedic knowledge of Trek<\/em> canon is surpassed only by his love for Gene Roddenberry\u2019s optimistic future, a vision that continues to guide us as we explore strange new worlds.\u201d<\/p>\n
