Set thousands of years in the future, the show follows three heroes&mdash;elf-human hybrid Wil, elvin&nbsp;princess Amberle and human rover Eretria&mdash;as they set out on a quest to stop an evil demon army from destroying the world. The series stars John Rhys-Davies (<em>Lord of the Rings<\/em>), Manu Bennett (<em>Spartacus<\/em>), Austin Butler (<em>The Carrie Diaries<\/em>), Poppy Drayton (<em>When Calls the Heart<\/em>) and Ivana Baquero (<em>Pan&#039;s Labyrinth<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>\n\tFilmed in New Zealand, the series is written and executive produced by&nbsp;<em>Smallville&nbsp;<\/em>creators Al Gough and Miles Millar, with Brooks and&nbsp;<em>Iron Man&nbsp;<\/em>director Jon Favreau also exec producing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TORONTO: MTV in Canada has set January 5 at 10 p.m. as the premiere slot for the fantasy\/sci-fi series The Shannara Chronicles, from MTV and Sonar Entertainment.
