MHz Choice has acquired the exclusive North American rights to France tv distribution’s Zorro adaptation, starring Jean Dujardin as Swashbuckler, premiering June 30.

The eight-episode limited series originally premiered on France 2 in December 2024 and rolled out on Paramount+ in select international markets. Shot entirely in Spain, the series was created by Benjamin Charbit and Noé Debré, who serve as co-writers alongside Emmanuel Poulain-Arnaud.

The series was directed by Jean-Baptiste Saurel and Emilie Noblet. Zorro was co-produced by Paramount+, France Télévisions, Marc Dujardin’s Le Collectif 64 and Julien Seul’s Bien Sûr Productions.

Set in 1821, Don Diego de la Vega unexpectedly becomes mayor. As the city faces financial problems due to the greed of a local businessman, Don Emmanuel, Diego decides to call on his alter ego, Zorro, for a helping hand.

“Zorro marks the most well-known IP we’ve brought to MHz to date,” said Lance Schwulst, executive VP of content strategy at MHz Choice. “There are a lot of Zorro adaptations, but this one really stood out to us as unlike any other we’ve seen. It’s fun, adventurous, sexy and cheeky, and with Jean Dujardin as the man behind the mask, who would say no?”

“This new version of Zorro was conceived in the tradition of swashbuckling films and French vaudeville,” said producer Marc Dujardin. “The result is a delightful blend of spectacular action and romantic comedy. We are absolutely thrilled that our version of Zorro can be discovered by American audiences. Although he is a hero who has always been at the crossroads of diverse cultural and historical references, he was born in the mind of an American author who loved California: Johnston McCulley.”

“MHz Choice has been a longtime partner of ours and we’re thrilled they will bring this series to North America,” said Julia Schulte, senior VP of international sales, and Michelle Palant, international sales manager at France tv distribution. “We look forward to the launch of Zorro, to which Jean Dujardin brings a French touch to an iconic international IP.”

MHz Choice has acquired the exclusive North American rights to France tv distribution’s Zorro adaptation, starring Jean Dujardin as Swashbuckler, premiering June 30.

[70
4415,4531,7138,11883,1648,11884
post-24289","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","","category-top-stories","tag-france-tv-distribution","tag-julia-schulte","tag-lance-schwulst","tag-marc-dujardin","tag-mhz-choice","tag-michelle-palant","pmpro-has-access
