{"id":24257,"date":"2026-01-27T12:17:20","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T17:17:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/scandi-alliance-backs-miso-films-royal-blood\/"},"modified":"2026-01-27T12:19:27","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T17:19:27","slug":"scandi-alliance-backs-miso-films-royal-blood-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/scandi-alliance-backs-miso-films-royal-blood-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Scandi Alliance Backs Miso Film\u2019s Royal Blood"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Scandi Alliance\u2014Norway\u2019s TV 2, Sweden\u2019s TV4 and Denmark\u2019s TV 2\u2014has boarded Miso Film\u2019s historical drama series <em>Royal Blood<\/em> (<em>Bl\u00e5tt Blod<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>With Erik Richter Strand (<em>The Crown<\/em>, <em>Behind Her Eyes<\/em>, <em>I Fought the Law<\/em>) on board to direct, the series will portray the power struggles between the Scandinavian royal houses from 1807 to 1814, a time of geopolitical upheaval.<\/p>\n<p>The series is created by \u202fNanna Westh (<em>The Legacy<\/em>, <em>Cry Wolf<\/em>),\u202fRichter Strand,\u202fMonica Boracco and\u202fKatarina Launing, with Westh and Richter Strand serving as head writers. Executive producers are Peter Bose, Jonas Allen, Christian Rank, Are Heidenstr\u00f8m and Richter Strand.<\/p>\n<p>Fremantle will be handling international distribution. The series is expected to start shooting in early 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Royal Blood<\/em> is a truly epic undertaking that explores how power, loyalty and personal ambition collide at a pivotal moment in Scandinavian history,\u201d said Alice Sommer, head of drama at TV 2 in Norway. \u201cThis is a story that belongs to all of us\u2014Denmark, Norway and Sweden. <em>Royal Blood<\/em> captures a defining moment when our nations\u2019 fates were intertwined in ways that still shape who we are today. We\u2019re incredibly proud to back this ambitious production as the Scandi Alliance\u2019s first flagship series. With Erik Richter Strand at the helm and Miso Film\u2019s proven track record in premium drama, we\u2019re confident this series will resonate deeply with contemporary audiences while setting a new benchmark for Nordic historical drama.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kristin Ulseth, producer for Miso Film, added, \u201c<em>Royal Blood<\/em> is about how power really works and how alliances are built and broken, and how the fate of entire nations can hinge on very human choices. At its heart, it\u2019s driven by fear, pride, vulnerability and courage, where even small decisions can have huge consequences.
