{"id":24178,"date":"2026-01-16T12:01:24","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T17:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/5-commissions-adaptation-of-graham-nortons-forever-home\/"},"modified":"2026-01-16T12:30:55","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T17:30:55","slug":"5-commissions-adaptation-of-graham-nortons-forever-home","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/5-commissions-adaptation-of-graham-nortons-forever-home\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Commissions Adaptation of Graham Norton\u2019s Forever Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>5 has commissioned a six-part series adaptation of Graham Norton\u2019s novel <em>Forever Home<\/em> from FilmNation Entertainment (<em>Anora<\/em>, <em>Conclave<\/em>) and The Mediapro Studio.<\/p>\n<p>The project, starring Amy Nuttall (<em>The Feud<\/em>, <em>Downton Abbey<\/em>), Douglas Henshall (<em>The Revenge Club<\/em>, <em>Shetland<\/em>) and Denise Welch (<em>Tip Toe<\/em>, <em>Waterloo Road<\/em>), among others, centers on Carol Crottie, who discovers a long-dead body hidden in the basement of her home and realizes her husband is a killer.<\/p>\n<p>The story that her husband\u2019s first wife ran away, never to be seen again, begins to look like a lie, and the fact that he continuously insists on never selling the house begins to point in the direction of a very dark secret.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Nuttall, Henshall and Welch, the cast includes Kevin Whately (<em>Inspector Morse<\/em>, <em>Lewis<\/em>), Samantha Bond (<em>The Marlow Murder Club<\/em>, <em>The Inheritance<\/em>), Lewis Cope (<em>Emmerdale<\/em>, <em>Strictly Come Dancing<\/em>), Shane Zaza (<em>Invasion<\/em>, <em>Big Boys<\/em>), Jenny Walser (<em>Heartstopper<\/em>, <em>Sweetpea<\/em> S2) and James Baxter (<em>Alma\u2019s Not Normal<\/em>, <em>Waterloo Road<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The adaptation is being written by Clara Salaman (<em>Too Close<\/em>), who will executive produce alongside Norton. Paul Gay (<em>Vera<\/em>, <em>Ridley<\/em>) and Claire Winyard (<em>Death Valley<\/em>, <em>Vera<\/em>) are on board to direct the series.<\/p>\n<p>The production is being supported by the North East Production Fund and North East Screen, with filming taking place in Northumberland, North East England.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn writing <em>Forever Home<\/em>, I was initially inspired by the simple idea of packing up a home later in life, and the \u2018what if\u2019 scenarios and complexities that come with later-life relationships,\u201d Norton said. \u201cThe novel soon evolved into a funny, twisted, \u2018dark-romp\u2019 full of farcical scenes, and it\u2019s wonderful to see the depth and richness of Carol\u2019s story realized as a screenplay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom the moment I read the always-hilarious Graham Norton\u2019s brilliant novel, I knew I wanted to bring <em>Forever Home<\/em> to the screen,\u201d said Kirstie Macdonald, creative director of FilmNation TV UK. \u201cIt\u2019s a story full of twists and turns, secrets and emotional depth that we can\u2019t wait to bring to life for 5 audiences.
