{"id":24061,"date":"2025-12-17T11:17:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-17T16:17:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/mgm-greenlights-the-magnificent-seven-series-adaptation\/"},"modified":"2025-12-17T11:17:36","modified_gmt":"2025-12-17T16:17:36","slug":"mgm-greenlights-the-magnificent-seven-series-adaptation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/mgm-greenlights-the-magnificent-seven-series-adaptation\/","title":{"rendered":"MGM+ Greenlights The Magnificent Seven Series Adaptation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MGM+ has greenlit a series adaptation of the classic MGM film <em>The Magnificent Seven<\/em>, with writer Tim Kring (<em>Heroes<\/em>, <em>Touch<\/em>) on board.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTim Kring is a master storyteller,\u201d said Michael Wright, head of MGM+. \u201cTim, Donald De Line, Larry Mirisch and Bruce Kaufman have crafted a series that delivers the energy of a classic western, honors the legacy of the original film and reasserts its timeless themes of the power of unity against oppression and flawed heroes finding redemption by helping those who can&#8217;t help themselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Set in the 1880s American frontier,<em> The Magnificent Seven<\/em> sees a peaceful Quaker village massacred by mercenaries working for a greedy and ruthless land baron. Seven gifted by flawed mercenaries are hired by the community to protect them from the land baron\u2019s hired guns. As the team embeds itself in the community, they are forced to grapple with the question: Is the use of violence acceptable to defend a people whose faith is based on non-violence?<\/p>\n<p>Kring is executive producing the eight-episode adaptation alongside Donald De Line (<em>Billy the Kid<\/em>,<em> Foster Dade<\/em>), Lawrence Mirisch and Bruce Kaufman. MGM+ Studios and MGM Television Studios are producing.
