Chamoun Issa has exited his role of head of development at Factual Fiction, a company he co-founded in 2020, to expand his work in nurturing talent and developing ambitious stories across drama and comedy.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs a disabled creator championing new and unheard voices, this is not only a personal passion but the work I want to devote myself to,\u201d Issa said. \u201cGrowing up in Beirut during the Civil War, film and television were both an escape and a way to make sense of the world. That has always been my connection to storytelling. The kind of originality I respond to often comes from talents who have not yet been heard.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve had the most wonderful five years at Factual Fiction,\u201d he added. \u201cWe set out to build the U.K.\u2019s first off-grid production company, with sustainability and diversity at its heart. That mission shaped our slate and attracted real industry attention. I\u2019m incredibly proud of what we achieved together, and I will be cheering the team on.\u201d<\/p>\n
At Factual Fiction, Issa led development across the scripted slate, creating and co-writing #DorianGray<\/em> with young writer and poet Maiya John and developing the youth comedy The Benefits of Disabled Sex<\/em> with rising comedy writer Sonny Howes.<\/p>\n Before co-founding Factual Fiction with Emily Dalton, Tom Dalton and Patrick Irwin, Issa worked with Emily Dalton at DSP, where he helped develop the factual company\u2019s scripted slate.
