Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators<\/em> has been re-commissioned for a sixth season by BBC Content and UKTV.<\/p>\n

Produced by BBC Studios Drama Productions, the new season will premiere exclusively on UKTV\u2019s specialist crime drama channel U&Alibi in 2026, before launching later on BBC and iPlayer. Season five is currently airing on U&Alibi.<\/p>\n

The drama is created by Paul Matthew Thompson and the late Jude Tindall. It follows an unlikely pair of private investigators\u2014hardboiled ex-cop Frank Hathaway and the warmhearted ex-hairdresser Lu Shakespeare\u2014as they work the streets of Stratford-upon-Avon. Mark Benton and Jo Joyner start in the lead roles.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m absolutely delighted to be back with Mark in beautiful Warwickshire filming the sixth series,\u201d Joyner said. \u201cI\u2019m looking forward to Lu muddling her way through more mysteries\u2014playing Luella is like slipping into a comfy pair of very bright, fluffy pink slippers!\u201d<\/p>\n

Benton said, \u201cWhen I heard we were given the green light for series six, I was thrilled. The show is very special to us. My partnership with Jo, the most wonderful crew and a script full of warmth, comedy and mystery. What a joy!\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur U&Alibi viewers love the quirky, crime-fighting chemistry between Lu and Frank, played brilliantly by Mark Benton and Jo Joyner,\u201d commented Claire Hooky, commissioning executive for drama at UKTV. \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to see more of their mismatched detective duo back in Stratford-upon-Avon in yet another series, and we\u2019re thrilled to be introducing Aruhan Galieva to the team as the excitable Bea.\u201d<\/p>\n
