{"id":23130,"date":"2025-08-05T08:50:25","date_gmt":"2025-08-05T12:50:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2025-08-06T12:29:03","modified_gmt":"2025-08-06T16:29:03","slug":"behind-the-scenes-of-amia-the-end-of-truth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/behind-the-scenes-of-amia-the-end-of-truth\/","title":{"rendered":"Behind the Scenes of\u00a0AMIA: The End of Truth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Marking the 31st anniversary of the bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Buenos Aires\u2014the deadliest terror attack in Argentinean history\u2014Dori Media\u2019s new thriller <em>AMIA: The End of Truth<\/em>\u00a0premiered last month on the LatAm streaming platform Flow and free-to-air broadcaster Telefe, with an Israeli window on Netflix.<\/p>\n<p>Written by Givon Snir, who also serves as showrunner, and Shuky Gur, and directed by Uruguayan filmmaker Guillermo Rocamora, the series speaks to the types of high-impact international co-productions that Dori Media Group has been pursuing in the scripted space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEverybody is looking for co-productions and partners,\u201d Nadav Palti, president and CEO of Dori Media Group, which is selling the series worldwide, tells\u00a0<em>TV Drama<\/em>. \u201cIt splits the cost and splits the risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>AMIA<\/em>\u00a0is being positioned as an action series, Palti says, fusing fact and fiction to tell the story of Diego (Michael Aloni), a Mossad agent whose sister was killed in the attack, and Gisela (Malena S\u00e1nchez), the local journalist he teams up with in his quest for answers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s an action drama,\u201d Palti says. \u201cWe did a lot of research, but it\u2019s not a documentary. It\u2019s a fiction series, inspired by real events.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Aloni had to become fluent in Spanish to join the cast as Diego. \u201cThe scripts were only ready for the final translation three weeks before shooting,\u201d Aloni tells\u00a0<em>TV Drama<\/em>. \u201cI was already doing a Disney+ series filming in Spain. Luckily, I had surrounded myself with Spanish-speaking people. We started with the scenes that weren\u2019t in Spanish, and then I had to learn it intensively. All the other actors were from Argentina or Uruguay, so I had to blend in quickly not to be left out. It was roughly a month and a half that I invested myself, and it was a smooth transition because no one spoke English!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Researching the role, Aloni spoke to people from Argentina to understand the attack\u2019s impact on the country. \u201cFor me, it was important to portray their stories and their tragedy to the world. Also, the story of Diego is very personal. He lost his sister. He\u2019s not willing to let go of his own loss. The way to enter Diego\u2019s world was to understand what it means to lose someone so close to you. What it means to fight when everything else is lost and you\u2019re on your own.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Like Palti, Aloni stresses that\u00a0<em>AMIA\u00a0<\/em>is at its heart an action thriller, referring to it as LatAm\u2019s answer to\u00a0<em>Fauda<\/em>. \u201cIt gets a hold of you right from the very first second.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is also a love story, says Aloni. \u201cI had a great time working with Malena S\u00e1nchez. The sparks for us as actors show on-screen. [Her character] finds herself in a world she never thought she\u2019d be in. The two worlds are colliding. It\u2019s also a great love story. It peels all the layers of mystery off the Mossad agent that I portray. If you\u2019re not into action, you get the love scenes. It\u2019s something special for the audience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Palti adds, \u201cThis is a good story, with very good actors and high production values. And it\u2019s an important story, especially these days.
