She returns home and turns down the marriage proposal of a wealthy man, determined never to marry.<\/p>\n<p>The book resonated wit ha generation of young Australian women who longed for the freedom to shape their own destinies.<\/p>\n<p>The cast of the Netflix adaptation features Philippa Northeast (<em>Territory<\/em>, <em>The Newsreader<\/em>), Christopher Chung (<em>Slow Horses<\/em>, <em>Blitz<\/em>), Anna Chancellor (<em>My Lady Jane<\/em>, <em>Outrageous<\/em>), Genevieve O\u2019Reilly (<em>Andor<\/em>, <em>The Dry<\/em>), Kate Mulvany (<em>Hunters<\/em>, <em>Elvis<\/em>), Jake Dunn (<em>What It Feels Like For a Girl<\/em>, <em>The Ballad of Renegade Nell<\/em>), Alexander England (<em>Black Snow<\/em>, <em>The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart<\/em>), Sherry-Lee Watson (<em>Thou Shalt Not Steal<\/em>, <em>Heartbreak High<\/em>) and Miah Madden (<em>Paper Dolls<\/em>, <em>The Clearing<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The creative team includes Liz Doran (<em>Barons<\/em>, <em>Please Like Me<\/em>) as writer; Alyssa McClelland (<em>Amandaland<\/em>, <em>Sex Education<\/em>) as set-up director for episodes one through three; Anne Renton (<em>The Good Doctor<\/em>, <em>Good Cop\/Bad Cop<\/em>) as director for episodes four through six; Paul Ranford (<em>Territory<\/em>, <em>Stateless<\/em>) as producer; and Sarinah Masukor (<em>Population 11<\/em>,<em> Good Cop\/Bad Cop<\/em>) and Rachael Turk (<em>Sunshine<\/em>, <em>The Principal<\/em>) as writers.<\/p>\n<p>Executive producers include Jungle\u2019s Chloe Rickard (<em>Good Cop\/ Bad Cop<\/em>, <em>Population 11<\/em>), Doran and McClelland.
