Filming for Prime Video\u2019s Young Sherlock<\/em> is underway in Wales, with the team planning to hire upwards of 340 Wales-based crew for over a year.<\/p>\n

The team behind the series will also deliver a bespoke training program providing high-level placements for ten trainees, as well as 45 work-shadowing placements, across a range of disciplines. The production is projected to add tens of millions of pounds of economic value into the local economy.<\/p>\n

Young Sherlock<\/em>, a prequel to the original story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle\u2019s fictional detective Sherlock Holmes, is being directed by Guy Ritchie. It is supported by Creative Wales, and the Welsh government funding has supported the build of extensive sets at its filming base of Great Point Studios Cardiff.<\/p>\n

The series is being written and executive produced by showrunner Matthew Parkhill (Deep State<\/em>, Rogue<\/em>). Additional executive producers are Simon Kelton (Eddie the Eagle<\/em>), Ivan Atkinson (The Gentlemen<\/em>), Simon Maxwell (The Woman in the Wall<\/em>, Deep State<\/em>), Dhana Gilbert (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em>), Colin Wilson (The Mandalorian<\/em>) and Marc Resteghini, with Harriet Creelman as co-executive producer. It is inspired by Andy Lane’s critically acclaimed book series Young Sherlock Holmes<\/em>. Physical production is running through Motive Pictures.<\/p>\n

\u201cYoung Sherlock<\/em> is the largest scale production yet to be based at Great Point Studios in Cardiff,\u201d said Jack Sergeant, Minister for Creative Industries, who recently visited set. \u201cIt was literally awesome to see what Motive Pictures, Inspirational Entertainment and Prime Video have brought to Wales, not just physically but also with their world-renowned brands.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a true show of Wales delivering world-class infrastructure for film and TV, and Creative Wales and the Welsh government have played an integral part in bringing the production to our capital. It is a huge opportunity, delivering significant economic and reputational benefits for Wales and our screen industry.<\/p>\n
