Viaplay Content Distribution has picked up the international distribution rights to the Swedish biopic series Vanguard<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Produced by FLX for SVT in collaboration with New8 Alliance, the series portrays the life of Swedish media mogul Jan Stenbeck from his transformative 1970s New York years to his meteoric rise and enduring legacy in Sweden\u2019s media landscape, where he broke the country\u2019s telephone monopoly and launched TV3.<\/p>\n

At age 35, Stenbeck seemed to have it all: a prestigious career at Morgan Stanley, a glamorous life in New York and a budding romance with American socialite Merrill McCloud. When tragedy struck his family in Sweden, he was thrust into a leadership role at Kinnevik, his family\u2019s prestigious industrial group. What followed was a high-stakes battle between tradition and innovation, as Stenbeck\u2019s visionary ideas clashed with his siblings\u2019 conservative approach.<\/p>\n

The series is written by Alex Haridi (Quicksand<\/em>, Love & Anarchy<\/em>), Lotta Erikson (The Hunt for a Killer<\/em>) and Helene Lindholm (The Hunt for a Killer<\/em>) and directed by Goran Kapetanovi\u0107 (Caliphate<\/em>, The Congregation<\/em>). It is based on Per Andersson\u2019s biography Stenbeck: A Biography of a Successful Businessman<\/em>. Jakob Oftebro (Black Crab<\/em>, Agent Hamilton<\/em>) stars in the lead role.<\/p>\n

The first episode of Vanguard<\/em> will be showcased during Viaplay Content Distribution\u2019s London TV Screenings event in February. The series is set to premiere this year across the Nordics on SVT, NRK, DR, Yle and R\u00daV, with additional co-production partners ZDF, NPO and VRT. Viaplay Content Distribution will represent the biopic in all remaining territories.<\/p>\n
