{"id":21752,"date":"2024-11-08T10:56:47","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T15:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/bbc-one-slates-silent-witness-return\/"},"modified":"2024-11-08T10:56:52","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T15:56:52","slug":"bbc-one-slates-silent-witness-return","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/bbc-one-slates-silent-witness-return\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC One Slates Silent Witness Return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BBC One and BBC iPlayer have slated the return of <em>Silent Witness<\/em> for early 2025, with Maggie Steed (<em>Paddington 2<\/em>, <em>Rivals<\/em>) and Francesca Mills (<em>The Witcher: Blood Origin<\/em>, <em>Worzel Gummidge<\/em>) joining the cast.<\/p>\n<p>Steed and Brooks join Emilia Fox (<em>Signora Volpe<\/em>, <em>The Pianist<\/em>) and David Caves (<em>Jackie<\/em>) as characters in The Lyell Centre. The new season tells five stories across ten episodes, beginning with the death of an elderly woman found in a cave.<\/p>\n<p><em>Silent Witness<\/em> is made by BBC Studios Drama Productions. Preproduction is already underway for the 2026 season of Silent Witness, which will film early next year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was delighted to be asked to join <em>Silent Witness<\/em>,\u201d Steed said. \u201cI\u2019ve enjoyed it many times over the years and it\u2019s always been the most intriguing and entertaining series going, so it\u2019s been a thrill to join.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mills commented, \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be joining such a long-running, much-loved series as <em>Silent Witness<\/em>, and I really look forward to being a part of the stellar cast. This will be the 28th series, and it is still going from strength to strength.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could not be more delighted to welcome our fabulous new cast to our <em>Silent Witness<\/em> family,\u201d said Suzi McIntosh, executive producer at BBC Studios. \u201cBoth Maggie and Fran bring their talent to our exciting and original new characters who will help carry our stories brilliantly.
