It is written and created by Nic\u00f4le Lecky (<em>Mood<\/em>), with Toby MacDonald (<em>Extraordinary<\/em>) directing.<\/p>\n<p>Also joining the cast are Sophie Winkleman (<em>Peep Show<\/em>) and Lecky, who also serves as an executive producer. Set in a private enclave, the title gives a look at mother and daughter relationships in a haze of social media, hidden apps and peer pressure that asks how far we will go to protect our children.<\/p>\n<p>Ejogo said, \u201cNic\u00f4le brings a fresh and less-explored U.K. perspective to her storytelling, which resonates with me personally. I&#8217;m thrilled to be a part of <em>Wild Cherry<\/em> for the BBC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Best added, \u201cAfter <em>House of the Dragon<\/em>, I wanted to plunge into something and someone very different from who I\u2019d just been playing. And Nic\u00f4le\u2019s brilliantly dark script really keeps me on my toes, which I love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lecky commented, \u201cGetting to work with Carmen and Eve is such a dream, and they have brought <em>Wild Cherry<\/em> to life in the most special way. <em>Wild Cherry<\/em> has a brilliant ensemble cast of characters (also led by Amelia and Imogen, who are wonderful), and I cannot wait for audiences to meet our Richford Lake residents.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Elizabeth Kilgarriff, executive producer at Firebird Pictures, added, \u201cIt is testament to Nic\u00f4le\u2019s skill in writing women of all ages with such truth and humanity that we have the privilege of working with such a fabulous and exciting cast. I can\u2019t wait to see them bring this fantastically entertaining, surprising and provocative world to life in a show that looks beneath the surface of privilege to reveal important and timely questions that resonate with us all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama, noted, &#8220;It\u2019s incredibly exciting to have this exquisite cast and the brilliant Toby MacDonald on board to bring Nic\u00f4le Lecky&#8217;s scripts full of scandal and swagger to the BBC.
