The BBC and Prime Video have ordered second and third seasons of The Night Manager<\/em>, which aired its first in 2016.<\/p>\n

Season two, which will see Tom Hiddleston (Loki<\/em>, The Essex Serpent<\/em>) reprise his role as Jonathan Pine, will pick up eight years after the finale of season one. Hugh Laurie (All the Light We Cannot See<\/em>, Veep<\/em>), who starred in the first season, will be an executive producer.<\/p>\n

The Night Manager<\/em>, inspired by characters in John le Carr\u00e9\u2019s best-selling novel, is produced by The Ink Factory (The Pigeon Tunnel<\/em>, The Little Drummer Girl<\/em>), in association with Character 7, Demarest Films and 127 Walls, and in co-production with Spanish partner Nostromo Pictures.<\/p>\n

The new seasons are once again written by series creator David Farr. Stephen Garrett will return to lead the production of the series. Georgi Banks-Davies (I Hate Suzie<\/em>, Paper Girls<\/em>) is attached to direct all six episodes of season two, which is set to begin filming later this year.<\/p>\n

The new seasons will premiere on BBC One and iPlayer in the U.K. and on Prime Video globally outside of the U.K. Fifth Season is handling global distribution of the series.<\/p>\n

\u201cJohn le Carr\u00e9’s work has long been an inspiration to me, and working closely with him on season one was an honor and a pleasure,\u201d Farr commented. \u201cI did not tread lightly into extending The Night Manager<\/em> beyond the original book, but an idea came to me a couple of years ago which felt truthful to that unique world of dark corners and shady identities. No one marries the suspense of espionage with a deep exploration of the human soul quite like le Carr\u00e9. I hope that, in some way, we can pay homage to his uneasy genius in this new exploration. I am thrilled to be working again with Tom Hiddleston, Stephen Garrett and The Ink Factory team and to be welcoming the brilliant director Georgi Banks-Davies into our ranks.\u201d<\/p>\n
