The eight-part Irish crime drama Kin, produced by BRON Studios (Joker) and Headline Pictures (The Man in the High Castle), has been acquired for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

The series follows as the Kinsellas, a local crime family, embark on a gangland war with a powerful international cartel. Though they are outnumbered, outfinanced and outgunned, they have something the cartel does not: the unbreakable bond of blood.

The cast features Clare Dunne (Herself), Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones), Ciarán Hinds (Game of Thrones), Sam Keeley (The Cured), Emmett J. Scanlan (Peaky Blinders), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Outlander) and newcomer Yasmin Seky.

Kin was acquired by the BBC from FIFTH SEASON (Killing Eve, Severance, Tokyo Vice). It is written and created by Peter McKenna (The Last Kingdom, Red Rock), who also serves as showrunner and executive producer. Other executive producers are BRON Studios’ David Davoli (The Defeated, Bag of Bones), Samantha Thomas (Jessica Jones, Daredevil), Steven Thibault (Pieces of a Woman, Capone) and Aaron L. Gilbert (Bombshell, Joker, Fences); Headline Pictures’ Christian Baute (Man in the High Castle, Funny Games), Laurence Lenica and Frank Calderon; and Ciaran Donnelly (Altered Carbon, Vikings), who is also co-creator.

“Anchored by a tremendous cast, Kin is a powerful and intense story of love, grief, family and crime and its devastating ramifications,” said Sue Deeks, head of BBC program acquisition.

Jennifer Ebell, executive VP of EMEA sales and acquisitions at FIFTH SEASON, added, “Kin aired in Ireland to critical acclaim and has generated record-breaking ratings across both linear and on-demand. The series has clocked up more than 4 million lifetime streams in Ireland, with the second season averaging a 40 percent audience share in its Sunday night slot and its finale becoming the most-viewed program of the year outside of sport. We’re thrilled that Kin has found its U.K. home with the BBC.”

The eight-part Irish crime drama Kin, produced by BRON Studios (Joker) and Headline Pictures (The Man in the High Castle), has been acquired for BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

[70
7933,769,201,2665,7934,7935,7936,7263,5190,7937,7938,3789,5067,7939,5856
post-19521","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","","category-top-stories","tag-aidan-gillen","tag-bbc-iplayer","tag-bbc-one","tag-bron-studios","tag-charlie-cox","tag-ciaran-hinds","tag-clare-dunne","tag-emmett-j-scanlan","tag-fifth-season","tag-headline-pictures","tag-jennifer-ebell","tag-kin","tag-maria-doyle-kennedy","tag-sam-keeley","tag-sue-deeks","pmpro-has-access
