CBS Studios, Stampede Ventures and Truenorth are set to begin production on The Darkness<\/em> later this year in Iceland, with two-time Oscar nominee Lasse Hallstr\u00f6m (Chocolat<\/em>, What\u2019s Eating Gilbert Grape<\/em>) to direct.<\/p>\n

Based on the best-selling thriller books by Ragnar J\u00f3nasson, The Darkness<\/em> follows Detective Inspector Hulda Hermannsd\u00f3ttir as she investigates a shocking murder case while coming to terms with her own personal traumas. Oscar nominee Lena Olin (Enemies<\/em>, A Love Story<\/em>, Chocolat<\/em>) will star in the lead role.<\/p>\n

The Darkness<\/em> adaptation is written by Sam Shore (CBBC\u2019s Mystic<\/em>). John-Paul Sarni and Greg Silverman are executive producers for Stampede Ventures, with Amelia Mysko as co-producer. J\u00f3nasson also executive produces. The series will be distributed outside of Iceland by Paramount Global Content Distribution.<\/p>\n
