Beginning September 1, two episodes are then to air nightly back-to-back.<\/p>\n<p>Created, directed and co-written by Dallas Jenkins (<em>The Resurrection of Gavin Stone<\/em>), <em>The Chosen<\/em> is set against the backdrop of Jewish oppression in first-century Israel. The series\u00a0features Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, Shahar Isaac as Simon, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene, Noah James as Andrew and Paras Patel as Matthew.<\/p>\n<p>It is an Angel Studios original produced by Loaves &amp; Fishes Productions. Lionsgate holds worldwide distribution rights to all seasons of <em>The Chosen<\/em> following their initial release window on the Angel Studios and <em>The Chosen<\/em> apps.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven the incredible success of <em>The Chosen<\/em> and the way it has resonated with viewers around the world, we felt our subscribers would welcome the chance to view this captivating series on our service,\u201d said Jackie Pardy, chief content officer for Super Channel. \u201cWe know that the faith-based audience has traditionally been underserved for content of this quality, and we felt this would be a great opportunity to test the response to a historical drama series of this nature on Heart &amp; Home. We feel the series will appeal to viewers of all backgrounds and beliefs given its unique storytelling, high production values and fresh perspective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jenkins commented: &#8220;We\u2019ve wanted to expand the reach of this show to Canada for a while, and Super Channel is the perfect partner for us.
