{"id":18885,"date":"2023-06-29T10:36:33","date_gmt":"2023-06-29T14:36:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/creatures-great-small-unveils-season-four-cast\/"},"modified":"2023-06-29T10:36:33","modified_gmt":"2023-06-29T14:36:33","slug":"all-creatures-great-and-small-unveils-season-four-cast","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/all-creatures-great-and-small-unveils-season-four-cast\/","title":{"rendered":"All Creatures Great and Small Unveils Season Four Cast"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Channel 5, PBS\u2019s MASTERPIECE and Playground have revealed the new and returning cast members for season four of <em>All Creatures Great and Small<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Neve McIntosh (<em>Shetland<\/em>) and James Anthony-Rose (<em>Slow Horses<\/em>, <em>Pennyworth<\/em>) join the cast as a bookkeeper and an undergraduate vet student, respectively. Callum Woodhouse will not be returning, but Nicholas Ralph, Rachel Shenton, Samuel West, Anna Madeley and Patricia Hodge will.<\/p>\n<p>The fourth season will feature six new episodes and a Christmas special. It set to air on Channel 5 this autumn. In the U.S., it will air on MASTERPIECE on PBS early in 2024. All3Media International represents the series internationally.<\/p>\n<p>Executive producer Ben Vanstone (<em>A Gentleman in Moscow<\/em>, <em>The Last Kingdom<\/em>) returns for season four and is writing the Christmas special. Writer Jamie Crichton (<em>Three Pines<\/em>, <em>Grantchester<\/em>) also returns, this time as lead writer and executive producer. Joining them for the new season are writers Maxine Alderton (<em>Emmerdale Farm<\/em>, <em>Doctor Who<\/em>) and Helen Raynor (<em>A Discovery of Witches<\/em>, <em>Call the Midwife<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Andy Hay (<em>The Last Kingdom<\/em>, <em>Jamestown<\/em>) is lead director and will direct episodes one and two, while Stewart Svaasand (<em>Tin Star<\/em>, <em>Death in Paradise<\/em>) will direct episodes three, four and six and BAFTA winner Jordan Hogg (<em>Ralph and Katie<\/em>, <em>Screw<\/em>) will direct episode five and the Christmas special.<\/p>\n<p>Sir Colin Callender, executive producer and CEO of Playground, said: \u201cWe are thrilled to be back in the glorious Yorkshire Dales for a fourth season of family, community and, of course, animal hijinks. Our wonderful cast and crew are all delighted to be returning to adapt more of James Herriot\u2019s joyful and life-affirming stories.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Paul Testar, commissioning editor for drama at Channel 5 and Paramount+, commented: \u201c<em>All Creatures Great and Small<\/em> is one of the highlights of our year, and we are eager to return to the glorious Yorkshire Dales this autumn.
