{"id":18808,"date":"2023-06-15T10:56:37","date_gmt":"2023-06-15T14:56:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/dry-season-two-filming-commences\/"},"modified":"2023-06-15T10:56:37","modified_gmt":"2023-06-15T14:56:37","slug":"the-dry-season-two-filming-commences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/the-dry-season-two-filming-commences\/","title":{"rendered":"The Dry Season Two Filming Commences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Element Pictures (<em>Normal People<\/em>, <em>Conversations with Friends<\/em>) has begun filming on the second season of <em>The Dry<\/em> for ITVX and RT\u00c9.<\/p>\n<p>The new season will see the return of Roisin Gallagher (<em>The Fall<\/em>) as recovering alcoholic Shiv Sheridan, accompanied by a slew of new cast members, including Michael McElhatton (<em>Game of Thrones<\/em>), Thommas Kane Byrne (<em>Derry Girls<\/em>), Se\u00e1n Doyle (<em>Normal People<\/em>), Helen Norton (<em>Cracks<\/em>) and Ruth Codd (<em>The Midnight Club<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Reprising their roles are Ciar\u00e1n Hinds (<em>Belfast<\/em>), Pom Boyd (<em>Vanity Fair<\/em>), Siobh\u00e1n Cullen (<em>Origin<\/em>), Moe Dunford (<em>Vikings<\/em>), Adam Richardson (<em>Intruder<\/em>) and Emmanuel Okoye (<em>Conversations with Friends<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The storyline will pick up seven months on from the events of the first season, with the Sheridans living in their new normal\u2014Shiv\u2019s been sober, celibate and solvent, Ant has hung onto his job and his relationship and Caroline is making up for lost time by hooking up with everyone she meets on Tinder.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Dry<\/em> is produced in association with F\u00eds Eireann\/Screen Ireland and ITV Studios. It is written by Nancy Harris (<em>Dates<\/em>) and directed by Paddy Breathnach (<em>Viva<\/em>, <em>Rosie<\/em>). Season two is slated to stream exclusively on ITVX and RT\u00c9 next year.<\/p>\n<p>Gallagher said: \u201cI am thrilled to be jumping back into Shiv\u2019s shoes once more. It has been a joy to work with the returning cast from series one\u2014and this time we\u2019ve welcomed some new faces to share the chaotic shenanigans of the Sheridans\u2019 life. I cannot wait to see where this next chapter takes us; there are so many more hilarious twists and turns on her continuous battle to stay sober.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Emma Norton of Element Pictures, executive producer, added: \u201cWe all fell in love with the Sheridan family in season one, so it\u2019s a huge treat to get to spend more time in their company. Nancy has a hilarious and heartbreaking arc for this season, and Paddy is leading our wonderful Irish cast and crew to bring this fantastic new chapter to life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nana Hughes, head of scripted comedy at ITV, said: \u201cWe have all loved joining Shiv on her journey and getting to know her bonkers family the Sheridans. Our viewers are looking forward to reuniting with this amazing cast of characters next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dermot Horan, director of acquisitions and co-productions for RT\u00c9, commented: \u201cRT\u00c9 is delighted to be able to invite our viewers back into the manic, hilarious, but at times very recognizable Sheridan household.
