Paramount+ has commissioned a five-part series adaptation of Lucy Clarke\u2019s best-selling thriller novel The Castaways<\/em> from Clapperboard Studios and BlackBox Multimedia.<\/p>\n

The Castaways <\/em>centers on\u00a0sisters Lori and Erin, whose planned trip of a lifetime to Fiji is ruined after a huge fight. Only Lori boards the plane, which ends up disappearing without a trace. The story follows both Erin\u2019s investigation into the plane\u2019s disappearance and Lori\u2019s struggle for survival on a tropical and remote desert island.<\/p>\n

Sheridan Smith (Mrs. Biggs<\/em>, The C Word<\/em>, Quartet<\/em>, The Railway Children Return<\/em>) has been cast as Lori, while Celine Buckens (Showtrial<\/em>, Warhorse<\/em>, The Ex-Wife<\/em>) has been tapped as Erin.<\/p>\n

Ben Harris (Young Wallander<\/em>, Devils<\/em>, Marcella<\/em>) is serving as executive producer and lead writer, sharing episode writing responsibilities with Polly Buckle and Jesse O\u2019Mahoney. Andy Tohill and Ryan Tohill (Dagliesh<\/em>, The Dig<\/em>) are directors for the show, with Myf Hopkins serving as the producer. Tee series will be distributed by BBC Studios.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so excited to be working with C\u00e9line Buckens and to be part of this amazing production bringing Lucy Clarke\u2019s best-selling novel to life,\u201d Smith said. \u201cAnd, as I\u2019m currently playing Shirley Valentine in London\u2019s West End, it\u2019s ironic that I finally get to go Greece!\u201d<\/p>\n

Buckens added, \u201cI\u2019m really thrilled to bring Erin to life. She\u2019s a firecracker, and the scripts bring layers and darkness to such an arresting premise. I hope audiences will be as hooked watching it as I was reading it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m so delighted that The Castaways<\/em> is being made for Paramount+,\u201d Clarke commented. \u201cIt promises to be an incredible adaptation; the scriptwriting is electric, and Sheridan and C\u00e9line are perfectly cast as Lori and Erin.
