{"id":18503,"date":"2023-04-10T10:21:42","date_gmt":"2023-04-10T14:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/bbc-orders-beyond-paradise-season-two-christmas-special\/"},"modified":"2023-04-10T10:21:42","modified_gmt":"2023-04-10T14:21:42","slug":"bbc-orders-beyond-paradise-season-two-christmas-special","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/bbc-orders-beyond-paradise-season-two-christmas-special\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC Orders Beyond Paradise Season Two &amp; Christmas Special"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BBC has ordered a second season and Christmas special for its <em>Death in Paradise<\/em> spin-off, <em>Beyond Paradise<\/em>, co-commissioned by BritBox International.<\/p>\n<p>The first season of the series concluded last week, with DI Humphrey Goodman visiting his old stomping ground in Saint Marie, taking some time away to clear his mind and consider his future in Shipton Abbott. The show will return with a Christmas special later this year, with the second season to come in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><em>Beyond Paradise<\/em> is created by Robert Thorogood and Tony Jordan and is produced by Red Planet Pictures, part of the Asacha Media Group. Jordan, founder and executive chairman of Red Planet, will act as showrunner and lead the team of writers across the new six-part season and Christmas special. Executive producers are Jordan, Tim Key and Belinda Campbell for Red Planet, Jenny Frayn for BBC and Reemah Sakaan for BritBox International.<\/p>\n<p>The first season of Beyond Paradise continues on BBC One and iPlayer in the U.K., with the full series available on BritBox International in North America, the Nordics and South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m beyond excited to return to Shipton Abbott for both a Christmas special and second series of <em>Beyond Paradise<\/em>,\u201d said Lindsay Salt, director of BBC Drama. \u201cThe response from BBC viewers to series one has been a joy to see, and like its millions of fans, I\u2019m intrigued to find out what new mysteries lie in store for Humphrey, Martha and the team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve been blown away by the audience response to the show and are so happy that people have taken it to their hearts,\u201d Key said. \u201cWe can\u2019t wait to get our amazing cast back together to continue the story\u2014and to be able to pay a visit to Shipton Abbott at Christmas is even better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sakaan, CEO of BritBox International, added, \u201cFrom developing this series to its launch, <em>Beyond Paradise<\/em> has fulfilled the promise we saw in it, immediately growing a healthy fanbase amongst international audiences, with its abundant charm, humor and gripping mysteries, all fronted by a first-class cast.
