BBC, Stan and ZDF have co-commissioned a second season of The Tourist<\/em>, with Jamie Dornan (Belfast<\/em>, The Fall<\/em>) and Danielle Macdonald (Unbelievable<\/em>, Dumplin\u2019<\/em>) set to reprise their roles.<\/p>\n

Produced by Two Brothers Pictures (Baptiste<\/em>, The Missing<\/em>, Fleabag<\/em>) in association with All3Media International, the new season will take place a year on from the events of the first as Dornan and Macdonald\u2019s characters Elliot and Helen travel to Ireland to piece together Elliot\u2019s past life.<\/p>\n

The series is created and written by Jack and Harry Williams, who, alongside Daniel Walker (Dinosaur<\/em>, Boat Story<\/em>) and Sarah Hammond (Fleabag<\/em>, Back to Life<\/em>, Boat Story<\/em>), serve as executive producers for Two Brothers Pictures. Nawfal Faizullah executive produces for the BBC. Fergus O\u2019Brien (Happy Valley<\/em> season three, Gentleman Jack<\/em>, The A Word<\/em>) is directing the opening block.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Tourist<\/em> was unlike anything we\u2019d written before, and we\u2019re hugely grateful for the incredible response to series one,\u201d the Williams brothers said. \u201cIt\u2019s been an exciting journey getting stuck into that world again with the quirky characters that were so loved and seeing where we could take them next, whilst continuing to deliver a tonally unique and off-beat drama.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSeries two of The Tourist<\/em> will surprise and delight viewers in the same way that the first did so successfully,\u201d noted executive producers Hammond and Walker. \u201cWith comedy embedded throughout the dark and thrilling narrative, we\u2019re sure this series will continue to appeal to a wide audience and are excited to explore that in a different setting.\u201d<\/p>\n
