The first mission encounters a catastrophic event with more than a year left to go before reaching its target planet, and the remaining crew must find a way to stay on course and survive.<\/p>\n<p>The 12-episode series debuted in the U.S. on February 1 on SYFY. It has already been sold in Spain, France, Portugal, the Balkans, Romania and Poland.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is both exciting and rewarding having a long-lasting relationship with NBCU in Germany,\u201d said Sonia Mehandjiyska, head of international distribution at Electric Entertainment. \u201cPartnering with them on <em>The Ark<\/em> is the third Electric Entertainment series they will be airing in the territories following the successful runs of <em>The Librarians<\/em> and <em>The Outpost<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Karin Schrader, VP of programming and acquisitions at NBCUniversal Global Networks Germany, added, \u201cSci-fi programs translate extremely well worldwide, especially those that are created by two of the most legendary producers in science-fiction\u2014Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner.
