{"id":18257,"date":"2023-02-20T10:16:28","date_gmt":"2023-02-20T15:16:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/bentframe-cineflix-team-adapt-looking-jane\/"},"modified":"2023-02-20T10:42:21","modified_gmt":"2023-02-20T15:42:21","slug":"bentframe-cineflix-team-to-adapt-looking-for-jane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/bentframe-cineflix-team-to-adapt-looking-for-jane\/","title":{"rendered":"BentFrame &#038; Cineflix Team to Adapt Looking for Jane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BentFrame Film &amp; TV and Cineflix Studios are working together on a TV adaptation of Heather Marshall\u2019s international bestseller <em>Looking for Jane<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The story spans six decades and multiple timelines and centers on three women whose lives are bound together by a long-lost letter and a secret network of women fighting for the right to choose.<\/p>\n<p>The novel is inspired by true stories of the real-life Jane Collective that provided safe but illegal abortions under the constant threat of police raids and prison.<\/p>\n<p>Celeste Parr (<em>Ethel<\/em>, <em>This Life<\/em>) is on board the series as creator and showrunner.<\/p>\n<p>Zach Marcovici will produce for BentFrame, with Sonia Hosko and Brett Burlock as executive producers for Cineflix Studios.<\/p>\n<p>Adrienne Mitchell, who will serve as executive producer and lead director of the adaptation, said: \u201cBentFrame is all about telling powerful stories from unique perspectives that cast fresh insight on history and the many lived experiences we share. I can\u2019t think of a better example than Heather\u2019s exceptional novel, which shines a light on what might be history to some but remains for many women a battle that is still being fought.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marshall commented: \u201cI\u2019m delighted that BentFrame has acquired the dramatic rights to <em>Looking for Jane<\/em>. From our first meeting, it was clear that Adrienne and Zach had the passion and experience needed to bring this story to the screen, and I was so pleased when I learned they had brought on Celeste as showrunner and screenwriter. I have every confidence their adaptation will thrill readers who are eager to see the Janes come to life on-screen!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Celeste Parr added: \u201cTo be entrusted with this courageous, deeply emotional, and urgently-needed story by Heather Marshall is a waking dream.
