STARZ has renewed Outlander<\/em> for an eighth and final season and greenlit the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The eighth season of Outlander<\/em> will consist of ten episodes, following an extended 16-episode seventh season, which will air this summer on STARZ. The ten-episode prequel series will center on the lives and relationship of Jamie Fraser\u2019s parents, Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie.<\/p>\n

Outlander: Blood of My Blood<\/em> will be available on Lionsgate+ in the U.K., Australia and Latin America and across all STARZ platforms in the U.S. and Canada. Outlander<\/em> showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts has signed on to write the prequel series and serve as showrunner and executive producer. Ronald D. Moore will also executive produce alongside Maril Davis. Moore and Davis developed Outlander<\/em> for television under their production banner Tall Ship Productions.<\/p>\n

Story Mining & Supply Company will also executive produce, and Diana Gabaldon, whose international best-selling books inspired Outlander<\/em>, will serve as consulting producer. Sony Pictures Television will produce.<\/p>\n

Outlander<\/em> stars Caitr\u00edona Balfe, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, David Berry, Caitlin O\u2019Ryan, Paul Gorman, as well as newcomers Charles Vandervaart, Izzy Meikle-Small and Joey Phillips.<\/p>\n

\u201cBlood of My Blood<\/em> is, at its heart, a love story,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cIt will explore what lengths a person will go to find love in a time when love is considered a luxury and when marriages are made strategically, often for political or financial gain. The title is a nod to Jamie Fraser\u2019s marriage vow to Claire, and there will be several names and faces that Outlander<\/em> fans will know and recognize. Jamie and Claire\u2019s TV story may be coming to an end with season eight, but Diana is continuing on with their literary journey in her wonderful book series and is working diligently on book ten. With Jamie and Claire, and now Brian and Ellen, there is still so much more to come in the Outlander<\/em> universe, and we cannot wait to continue sharing these stories with our dedicated fans.\u201d<\/p>\n
