MGM+ and Prime Video have ordered a slate of live-action shows based on the Sony Pictures universe of Marvel characters, beginning with Silk: Spider Society<\/em>, with The Walking Dead<\/em> alum Angela Kang tapped as showrunner of the new series.<\/p>\n

Sony Pictures Television\u2019s Silk: Spider Society\u00a0<\/em>will debut in the U.S. on MGM+\u2019s linear channel and globally on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories thereafter. Based on characters created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Silk: Spider Society<\/em>\u00a0follows Cindy Moon, a Korean-American woman bitten by the same spider that bit Peter Parker, as she escapes imprisonment and searches for her missing family on her way to becoming the superhero known as Silk.<\/p>\n

Kang, who has a multiyear overall television deal at Amazon Studios, developed the series with Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, producers of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,\u00a0<\/em>and Amy Pascal. All serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to bring the adventures of Cindy Moon to life, thanks to the creative dream team of Chris and Phil, Angela and Amy, along with our partners at Marvel and Amazon,\u201d said Katherine Pope, president of Sony Pictures Television Studios. \u201cWe know this exciting series with new and never-before-seen characters and storylines will wow audiences watching first on linear MGM+ and then around the world on Prime Video.\u201d<\/p>\n
