{"id":17296,"date":"2022-08-02T09:30:56","date_gmt":"2022-08-02T13:30:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/bbc-three-commissions-daniel-lawrence-taylor-dramedy\/"},"modified":"2022-08-02T12:29:11","modified_gmt":"2022-08-02T16:29:11","slug":"bbc-three-commissions-daniel-lawrence-taylor-dramedy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/bbc-three-commissions-daniel-lawrence-taylor-dramedy\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC Three Commissions Daniel Lawrence Taylor Dramedy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Boarders<\/em>, a new coming-of-age comedy-drama created by Daniel Lawrence Taylor (<em>Timewasters<\/em>), has been commissioned for BBC Three and BBC iPlayer.<\/p>\n<p>The six-part series, produced by Studio Lambert (<em>The Nest<\/em>, <em>Three Girls<\/em>), follows the lives of five underprivileged Black students from inner-city London who win scholarships to an elite boarding school.<\/p>\n<p>Lawrence Taylor will executive produce alongside Susan Hogg and Maddie Sinclair for Studio Lambert and Ayela Butt and Gaynor Holmes for the BBC.<\/p>\n<p>Lawrence Taylor said: \u201cAs the Black Lives Matter movement continues to grow momentum, and the world is becoming more aware of Black struggles in white institutions, a show like <em>Boarders<\/em> has never been more relevant or ripe for comedy. Working with Studio Lambert and the BBC has been an absolute joy, and I\u2019ve also bagged myself some of the most exciting Black British voices to help me bring this show to the screen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Susan Hogg, head of drama at Studio Lambert, said: \u201cWe are so excited to bring this bold and original series to BBC Three and iPlayer. Daniel has the courage to tackle a tough premise through the lens of comedy. <em>Boarders<\/em> is at once heartfelt and hilarious.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fiona Campbell, controller of BBC Three, added: \u201cWe couldn\u2019t be happier that <em>Boarders<\/em> will be coming to BBC Three and to be working with Daniel and this fantastic team of writers.
