Herbert L. Kloiber’s Night Train Media (NTM) has acquired Eccho Rights from CJ ENM, with Fredrik af Malmborg set to remain as CEO of the drama distributor and holding a \u201csubstantial\u201d holding in the company.<\/p>\n

Kloiber, who becomes chairman of Eccho Rights, said of the transaction: \u201cWe are impressed by Eccho Rights\u2019 growth, not only by its sales of popular drama series from across the globe, but also by its strategic vision. Eccho\u2019s key business areas are complementary and synergetic with NTM\u2019s. Combining our strengths could not come at a better time when even worldwide streamers are increasingly licensing content in selected territories. We are looking forward to supporting Eccho Rights in its growth plans and to closely working with this expert team.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eccho Rights will operate as an independent entity within NTM. Commenting on the deal, af Malmborg said: \u201cWe share the same vision for the future of TV production and distribution, and having the support of NTM, Eccho Rights will strengthen its position as the go-to partner for creators looking to retain their independence in an ever-consolidated industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Handan \u00d6zkubat remains at the company, serving as director of Turkish drama and digital operations, while Adam Barth continues as director of co-production, development and acquisitions. Nicola S\u00f6derlund, co-founder of Eccho Rights, is retiring.<\/p>\n

Kloiber’s NTM, backed by private-equity firm Serafin Group, also holds a majority interest in BossaNova, the factual distribution and co-production company founded by Paul Heaney following his exit from TCB Media Rights.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
