{"id":17215,"date":"2022-07-18T09:32:06","date_gmt":"2022-07-18T13:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/story-films-preps-new-true-crime-drama\/"},"modified":"2022-07-18T12:31:21","modified_gmt":"2022-07-18T16:31:21","slug":"story-films-preps-new-true-crime-drama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/story-films-preps-new-true-crime-drama\/","title":{"rendered":"Story Films Preps New True-Crime Drama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Story Films, the outfit behind <em>The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe<\/em>, is prepping a four-part drama about the rise and fall of trader Nick Leeson and the collapse of Barings Bank.<\/p>\n<p>To be written by\u00a0Tony Marchant for a U.K. broadcaster, the tentatively titled\u00a0<em>The Man Who Broke the Bank<\/em> is based on research from several books, archive materials and first-person accounts. \u201cTony Marchant\u2019s scripts tell a gripping tale of \u201990s hubris, of squandered talent, fear, fraud and disgrace,\u201d said Dave Nath, co-founder at the All3Media-backed Story Films. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t have hoped for a more talented writer to tell this incredible story in such a dramatic and nuanced way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Louise Pedersen, CEO of All3Media International, which will be distributing the series, added, \u201cThere is a great appetite in the global market for true-crime dramas, particularly those that offer a fresh take on the true-crime narrative.
