Tobias Santelmann (<em>Exit<\/em>, <em>Kon-Tiki<\/em>), Selome Emnetu (<em>Luka and the Magical Theater<\/em>) and Russell Tovey (<em>The Picture of Dorian Gray<\/em>, <em>Quantico<\/em>) lead the cast.<\/p>\n<p>The eight-part show is set to premiere on Viaplay in 2023. Filming is currently taking place in Bergen.<em> The Fortress<\/em> is distributed globally by TrustNordisk.<\/p>\n<p>The Fortress (Norwegian title: <em>Festning Norge<\/em>) is written by Linn-Jeanethe Kyed (<em>B\u00f8<\/em>) and author John K\u00e5re R\u00e5ke (<em>The Quake<\/em>) and directed by Cecilie Mosli (<em>Mammon<\/em>, <em>Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em>) and Mikkel Br\u00e6nne Sandemose (<em>State of Happiness<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Santelmann said: \u201cCecilie has directed most of the scenes involving my character, and she is talented, generous and committed. My experience is that both Mikkel and Cecilie have great respect for each other, and collaborate and complement each other well. The situation in the world today means that<em> The Fortress<\/em> feels uncomfortably close to home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group&#8217;s chief content officer, added: \u201cOur next Norwegian Viaplay original might be set 15 years in the future, but is relevant to audiences everywhere today. History repeatedly shows us that what starts as a wall, ends as a prison.
