It\u00a0is part epic love story, part political thriller.<\/p>\n<p>The limited series chronicles the volatile romance of two very different men who meet in the shadow of McCarthy-era Washington. Bomer will play handsome, charismatic\u00a0Hawkins Fuller, who maintains a financially rewarding, behind-the-scenes career in politics.\u00a0Hawkins avoids emotional entanglements\u2014until he meets Tim Laughlin, a young man brimming with idealism and religious faith.\u00a0Over the course of four decades, Hawkins and Tim cross paths through the Vietnam War protests of the 1960s, the drug-fueled disco hedonism of the 1970s and the AIDS crisis of the 1980s, while facing obstacles in the world and in themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Oscar nominee Ron Nyswaner\u00a0(<i>Philadelphia<\/i>) is creator and executive producer,<i>\u00a0<\/i>along with Robbie Rogers (<i>All American<\/i>,\u00a0<i>My Policeman<\/i>)<i>.\u00a0<\/i>Daniel Minahan\u00a0(<i>Halston<\/i>,<i> American Crime Story: Versace<\/i>)<i>\u00a0<\/i>will executive produce and direct the first two episodes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a thrilling and deeply moving exploration of character and American life in the latter half of the past century, <em>Fellow Travelers<\/em> shines an unprecedented light on stories that are as urgent today as ever,\u201d said Jana Winograde, co-president of entertainment at Showtime Networks. \u201cThe series delivers us directly into an insider world of Washington rife with national consequences while drawing out the intimate moments that are profoundly personal and often heartbreaking.
