While dealing with grief, a social worker and her family will have their loyalties tested when they are confronted by a stranger claiming a connection no one could have imagined.<\/p>\n<p>Cardiff-born, BAFTA-winning actor Rakie Ayola (<em>Anthony<\/em>) will star in the lead role, alongside a cast including Elizabeth Berrington (<em>The Nevers<\/em>), Lisa Palfrey (<em>Chloe<\/em>, <em>Line of Duty<\/em>), Christian Patterson (<em>Mr Selfridge<\/em>, <em>In My Skin<\/em>), Matthew Gravelle (<em>Broadchurch<\/em>, <em>Keeping Faith<\/em>), Aaron Anthony (<em>Behind Her Eyes<\/em>) and Jacob Ifan (<em>Bang<\/em>, <em>A Discovery of Witches<\/em>), as well as rising stars Jordan Wilks (<em>Freshers<\/em>), Lloyd Everitt (<em>Casualty<\/em>, <em>The Deceived<\/em>) and Mali Ann Rees (<em>Tourist Trap<\/em>, <em>Hidden<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p><em>The Pact<\/em>, a co-commission between BBC Drama and BBC Wales, is created and written by Pete McTighe (<em>The Rising<\/em>, <em>Doctor Who<\/em>, <em>A Discovery of Witches<\/em>), with further episodes written by Joy Wilkinson (<em>Doctor Who<\/em>). Elwen Rowlands and Hayley Manning executive produce for Little Door Productions, and Ben Irving and Helen Perry serve as executive producers for BBC. Ayola also executive produces.<\/p>\n<p>The second season is due to air later this year and will be distributed by Lionsgate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m thrilled to be working again with Little Door and BBC Wales leading this talented cast to bring Pete&#8217;s wonderfully mysterious story to life,\u201d said Ayola. \u201cAs an exec-producer on this series, it&#8217;s hugely important to me to see the wealth of opportunity this production is offering both to established talent and those new to the industry, both behind and in front of camera.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re delighted to be working with BBC Wales, BBC Drama and Pete McTighe on a new series of <em>The Pact<\/em> and to have the brilliant Rakie Ayola head up a cast of established and emerging talent,\u201d Rowlands commented. \u201cIt\u2019s a gothic tale that puts loveable, complex characters under extreme pressure, forcing them to confront their past. When asked if we would go again, it was a very easy decision to make. Pete McTighe\u2019s writing has more twists and turns than a bowl of spaghetti\u2014we were absorbed by the characters and the story. It\u2019s brilliant to be going again and fans can be reassured that you\u2019ll be guessing the ending right up until the final credits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m delighted that Creative Wales is able to support the second series of this popular BBC thriller,\u201d noted Gerwyn Evans, deputy director of Creative Wales, which is supporting production. \u201cCardiff-based Little Door is filming in and around Wales once again, showcasing our nation as the ideal location to shoot.
