The 8&#215;45-minute adaptation of the\u00a0Drama Republic drama for BBC One is set to premiere on\u00a0Disney+ Hotstar later this year.<\/p>\n<p>Izham Omar, the head of content and creative for Southeast Asia at The Walt Disney Company, noted, \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to welcome <em>Mendua<\/em>\u00a0to our ever-expanding content slate. It\u2019s a gripping story of betrayal and revenge that will capture and engage local audiences. We see great potential in the creative community here to adapt this award-winning series and will continue to bring quality storytelling to audiences in Indonesia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Andr\u00e9 Renaud, senior VP of global format sales at BBC Studios, added, \u201cMike Bartlett and Drama Republic produced such an extraordinary character and story with <em>Doctor Foster<\/em> that our international customers continue to be inspired and find new ways of telling this story for a local audience. Screenplay Films\u2019 interpretation will bring new characters and a new approach to the story whilst keeping the core themes at its heart. I am certain it will keep Disney+ Hotstar subscribers gripped.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wicky V. Olindo, producer for Screenplay Films, added, \u201cFrom the get-go, our main intent was to produce the best local adaptation that elevates and challenges the conventional approach to drama series production in the country. Our main character Sekar realizes the causal effect to her marriage of being the breadwinner and no matter the adversity, learns to deal with all her issues.
