{"id":16359,"date":"2022-02-22T09:51:43","date_gmt":"2022-02-22T14:51:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/split-adapted-italy\/"},"modified":"2022-02-22T13:00:32","modified_gmt":"2022-02-22T18:00:32","slug":"the-split-being-adapted-in-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/the-split-being-adapted-in-italy\/","title":{"rendered":"The Split Being Adapted in Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BBC Studios has signed a scripted format agreement with the Italian production company Palomar for a local adaptation of the critically acclaimed drama <em>The Split<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Locally titled <em>Studio Battaglia<\/em>, the format has been adapted by Lisa Nur Sultan (<em>On My Skin<\/em>) and is directed by Simone Spada (<em>Hotel Gagarin<\/em>). The three sisters will be played by Barbora Bobulova (<em>Cuore Sacro<\/em>\/<em>Sacred Heart<\/em>), Miriam Dalmazio (<em>Anna<\/em>) and Marina Occhionero (<em>Monterossi<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Lunetta Savino (<em>Saturn In Opposition<\/em>) plays their mother, and Massimo Ghini (<em>The New Pope<\/em>) will play their father. The cast also features Thomas Trabacchi (<em>Nico<\/em>, <em>1988<\/em>) and Giorgio Marchesi (<em>Medici<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>The 6&#215;1-hour Italian series will be produced by Palomar with Tempesta Film in collaboration with Rai Fiction.<\/p>\n<p>The Emmy- and BAFTA Award-winning original U.K. series comes from Abi Morgan (<em>River<\/em>, <em>Suffragette<\/em>, <em>The Hour<\/em>) and was broadcast in the U.K. on BBC One and co-produced with Sundance TV in the U.S. It was produced by Sister.<\/p>\n<p>Italy marks the third market to license the format. The Turkish production company MF Yapim, is adapting the series as <em>Evlilik Hakkinda Her Sey<\/em> (<em>All About Marriage<\/em>) for the free-to-air FOX channel in Turkey. Korean broadcaster JTBC licensed the format in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Andr\u00e9 Renaud, senior VP of global format sales at BBC Studios, said: \u201c<em>The Split<\/em> is a moving and compelling study of the universal themes of love, marriage and divorce\u2014all of which audiences around the world will no doubt be able to relate. It\u2019s a privilege for us that Palomar and Rai Fiction have chosen <em>The Split<\/em> as their next project, and I eagerly look forward to how they, the key talent and the creative teams will explore this series for Italian audiences next year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marco Camilli, head of content at Palomar, said: \u201cWorking on one of the most successful series of another European country is always a complex and excellent challenge. And with a series written by Abi Morgan and aired by BBC, this is more than just a challenge, it is a huge responsibility.
