HBO Max has ordered a second season of the DC spin-off series Peacemaker<\/em>, written and directed by James Gunn and starring John Cena.<\/p>\n

The eight-episode first season of the series premiered on January 13, with the finale launching on the platform today. Gunn will direct and write all episodes for season two of Peacemaker<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Peacemaker<\/em> follows the escapades of the character that Cena reprises in the aftermath of Gunn\u2019s 2021 film The Suicide Squad<\/em>, a vainglorious man who believes in peace at any cost, no matter how many people he has to kill to get it. The series is produced by Gunn\u2019s Troll Court Entertainment and The Safran Company in association with Warner Bros. Television.<\/p>\n

Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said: \u201cThe brilliance of James Gunn once again shines with Peacemaker<\/em>. He took this character, brought to life by the inimitable John Cena, and created an exceptional series that\u2019s simultaneously thrilling, hilarious and heartfelt, showcasing the humanity beneath this team of misfits living in a superhuman world.
