The first season will be launching soon on France T\u00e9l\u00e9visions, ZDF, RAI, Masterpiece PBS, RTBF and BBC.<\/p>\n<p><em>Journey to the Centre of the Earth<\/em>, also based on a classic Verne novel, follows Professor Lidenbrock, an adventurous professor who chances upon a manuscript in which a 16th-century explorer claims to have found a way to the earth&#8217;s core.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Crawford Collins of Slim Film + Television and Lionel Uzan of Federation Entertainment will produce both upcoming adaptations. Ashley Pharoah (<em>Around the World in 80 Days<\/em>, <em>Life on Mars<\/em>, <em>The Living and the Dead<\/em>) will showrun.<\/p>\n<p>Crawford Collins said, \u201cWe have loved working on the sequel to <em>Around the World in 80 Days<\/em>, and now we are excited to also bring Ashley\u2019s trademark blend of humor and emotion to <em>Journey to the Centre of the Earth<\/em>. Ashley has developed an ensemble of exciting new and updated characters to bring a fresh and modern take to another of Jules Verne\u2019s beloved novels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Uzan added, \u201cWe couldn&#8217;t be more excited to embark on this thrilling new adventure with Slim and keep exploring Jules Verne&#8217;s deeply compelling and trailblazing legacy together.
