{"id":15794,"date":"2021-10-22T09:00:58","date_gmt":"2021-10-22T13:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dev2.worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/worldscreen.com\/"},"modified":"2021-10-22T09:15:02","modified_gmt":"2021-10-22T13:15:02","slug":"nent-group-to-adapt-cell-8-novel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldscreen.com\/tvdrama\/nent-group-to-adapt-cell-8-novel\/","title":{"rendered":"NENT Group to Adapt Cell 8 Novel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nordic Entertainment Group (NENT Group) is set to adapt Roslund &amp; Hellstr\u00f6m&#8217;s best-selling novel<em> Cell 8<\/em> as a Viaplay original.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Cell 8<\/em>, a man presumed dead is arrested on a ferry between Sweden and Finland, throwing detectives Mariana Hermansson (played by Mimosa Willamo) and Ewert Grens (played by Leonard Terflect) into a mysterious and dark series of events that reveal connections to Hermansson, a death-row prisoner in the U.S. and a grieving parent thirsting for revenge.<\/p>\n<p>NENT Group and Miso Film have the rights to adapt four of Roslund &amp; Hellstr\u00f6m&#8217;s books. This is the second novel to be adapted as a Viaplay original, following <em>Box 21<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Willamo and Terflect are reprising their roles from <em>Box 21<\/em>, with\u00a0Kristofer Kamiyasu (<em>Hitman&#8217;s Wife&#8217;s Bodyguard<\/em>) also set to star. Dennis Magnusson (<em>Box 21<\/em>) will write the series and Johan Brisinger (<em>Thicker Than Water<\/em>) will direct. Producers are Rachel Bodros Wolgers (<em>Jag kommer hem igen till jul<\/em>) and Karl Fredrik Ulfung (<em>Box 21<\/em>) for Miso Film, with Jon Petterson as the show&#8217;s executive producer for NENT Group.<\/p>\n<p><em>Cell 8<\/em> is set to premiere exclusively on NENT Group&#8217;s Viaplay streaming service in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Filippa Wallestam, NENT Group&#8217;s chief content officer, said: \u201cRoslund &amp; Hellstr\u00f6m\u2019s storytelling is renowned around the world for good reason. They have an unerring knack of transforming social questions into unforgettable human faces, from the horrors of trafficking in <em>Box 21<\/em> and now the moral complexities of the death penalty in <em>Cell 8<\/em>. Our latest adaptation is an ideal fit for Viaplay as we accelerate our international expansion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anders Roslund, one half of the writing duo, said: \u201cThe novel <em>Cell 8<\/em> was always one of mine and B\u00f6rge [Hellstr\u00f6m]\u2019s favorite children. It\u2019s crime, thriller and social commentary all at the same time.
