The narrative is inspired by a \u201cBonnie and Clyde\u201d story in the press that captivated the Netherlands in February 2014.<\/p>\n<p>In the series, Esra Kaplan decides not to return to juvenile detention after a leave visit to her Turkish family and goes on the run with her boyfriend, Greg Driessen. With their crimes going from bad to worse, they become known as the \u201cBonnie and Clyde of the Low Countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Bonnie &amp; Clyde<\/em> is co-produced by Totem Media and is distributed globally by Banijay Rights.<\/p>\n<p>Gerd-Jan van Dalen, producer at Banijay Benelux Scripted, said: \u201cEveryone in the Netherlands was gripped with this original, unpredictable tale. Inspired by the real-life events, and with true-crime stories becoming increasingly popular, we believe viewers will feel the suspense in this drama like never before.
