She is ultimately drawn into a \u201ccollective\u201d of mothers with similar stories of loss and desire for retribution.<\/p>\n<p>Luke Franklin, director of development for Yellow Bird UK, said: \u201cIn <em>The Collective<\/em>, Alison Gaylin has crafted an unputdownable, subversively playful thriller which pulls no punches in the timely, hard questions it asks of protagonist Camille Gardener\u2014a flawed, heroic, complex female lead of the sort we rarely see\u2014and of the society whose injustices she attempts to redress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Berna Levin, Creative Director for Yellow Bird UK, said: \u201cFrom page one I was gripped\u2014Camille forces us to examine our own moral compass, and indeed what we\u2019d do faced with the same high-stakes choices\u2014and I knew <em>The Collective<\/em> should be adapted for the screen. I\u2019m honoured that Alison has entrusted Yellow Bird UK to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Alison Gaylin, added: \u201cAs a mother, I thought about the worst possible thing that could happen\u2014a child taken, the person responsible going unpunished&#8230; I don&#8217;t think I would ever be able to &#8220;move on&#8221; from something like that, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized how tragically common it is. That was the seed that inspired <em>The Collective<\/em>. A lot of emotion went into the writing of it, and I think it&#8217;s by far my most terrifying book.I couldn&#8217;t think of better people to bring it to life onscreen than the brilliant team at Yellow Bird UK. I&#8217;m so impressed with their ideas for the book, and by the shows they\u2019ve produced.
